This was the first collaborative project with Lisa Lim. Our client had an alcove and idea. We made her a built-in bookcase to house her television, her collection of pre-Columbian art, and, of course, her books. The whole piece is a massive 9' x 9' but once it was installed in the alcove, it hardly took up any room at all and actually made the room look bigger. The bookcase consists of 6 individual cabinets. There are 8 moveable shelves and 6 fixed shelves. The cases are made with 3/4" plywood with a solid poplar beaded face frame. There is a 1" solid poplar top between the upper and lower cases.
